Eddie Howard studied Fine Art (BA) at City and Guilds Art School, London where he was awarded the Worshipful Company of Painters and Stainers Scholarship. In 2022, he got a place on the "Drawing Year" Scholarship programme at the Royal Drawing School where he now also teaches drawing on The Young Artists programme.
Eddie often works on a scale larger than life and with a tactile mix of materials; papers, oil pastels, pencils, wax crayons, and watercolours. Drawing inspiration from the human stories set within the natural world, he is influenced by the compositions of Titian and Fra Angelico, the textural brilliance of Van Gogh, and literary figures such as Nan Shepherd and Robert Macfarlane.
Creating collages of time and space, Eddie's work invites viewers to engage with the beautiful and complex relationships between people, place, flora, fauna and history, sparking curiosity and encouraging a deeper exploration into the human spirit.
