Finding inspiration in work from other contemporary artists such as William Scott and Nicolas de Stael, Claire Hankinson creates abstractions of the world around her, from everyday objects to seascapes. She highlights the defining shapes of each of these subjects, emphasizing them at their most base forms. She creates these abstractions through a masterful use and understanding of colour, light, and shape. Hankinson's work can be found throughout other galleries in London, as well internationally in private collections in France and Sweden.
She writes:
'I love the use of very dark against very light contrast in my images, and equally, the intensity of vibrant colour in a painting. Many artists’ work has influenced my own, amongst these are Nicholas de Stael, and William Scott, together with many contemporary artists as well.'
